04 - 1 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
05 - Salt and black pepper, to taste

→ Caramelized Onions

06 - 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
07 - 2 tbsp olive oil
08 - 1 tsp granulated sugar
09 - 1/4 tsp salt
10 - 1 tsp balsamic vinegar

→ Topping

11 - 2 tbsp honey
12 - 1/2 tsp chili flakes, adjust to taste
13 - Fresh thyme leaves, to garnish

# Directions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a large skillet over medium-low heat, warm the olive oil. Add the sliced onions and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes until soft. Add sugar and continue to cook for another 5 to 10 minutes until deeply golden and caramelized. Stir in balsamic vinegar and cook for 1 more minute. Remove from heat.
03 - In a small bowl, mix the goat cheese with cream cheese if using, chives, salt, and pepper until smooth.
04 - Place the flatbread or crust on the prepared baking sheet. Evenly spread the goat cheese mixture over the surface, leaving a small border.
05 - Distribute the caramelized onions evenly over the cheese layer.
06 - Drizzle with honey and sprinkle chili flakes on top.
07 - Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are crisp and the cheese is warmed through.
08 - Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh thyme leaves, slice, and serve warm.
