# What You'll Need:
→ Cheese & Dairy
01 - 3.5 ounces goat cheese, softened
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
→ Pantry
03 - 4 slices rustic sourdough or artisan bread
04 - 3 tablespoons fig jam
→ Optional Additions
05 - 1 handful fresh arugula (optional)
06 - Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
# Directions:
01 - Evenly spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
02 - Flip the bread slices and evenly spread half of the goat cheese over the unbuttered sides of two slices.
03 - Spoon fig jam over the goat cheese and spread gently for even coverage.
04 - Place a handful of arugula and a touch of freshly ground black pepper over the jam, if using.
05 - Top with remaining bread slices, ensuring buttered sides are facing outward to encase the filling.
06 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Place assembled sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden and goat cheese is warmed through.
07 - Remove sandwiches from the skillet. Let rest for 1 minute, slice in half, and serve while warm.
