02 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
03 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
04 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
05 - 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
→ Cheese & Bread
06 - 8 slices sandwich bread
07 - 8 slices cheddar cheese
08 - 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
→ Vegetables & Add-Ons
09 - 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
10 - 1 small tomato, thinly sliced
11 - 4 to 8 slices dill pickle, optional
→ Condiments
12 - 2 tablespoons ketchup
13 - 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
# Directions:
01 - In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until thoroughly browned. Drain any excess fat and set the beef aside.
02 - Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
03 - On the unbuttered side of four bread slices, spread 1 tablespoon ketchup and 1/2 tablespoon mustard each. Layer with 1 to 2 slices cheddar cheese, a generous portion of cooked beef, sliced red onion, tomato, and dill pickles if desired.
04 - Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side facing out, to form sandwiches.
05 - Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Grill sandwiches, pressing gently, for 3 to 4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese has melted.
06 - Let sandwiches rest briefly. Slice and serve hot.
